Article on Predestination

I’ve had several inquiries about predestination. As a result I ended up writing an article about it for Meridian Magazine.  If you’re interested in the article, you can read it here:  Helping Evangelicals: Understanding Predestination.

Your former church believes that salvation is available to everyone . . . from their website: Article VI – SALVATION

We believe that salvation is wrought by God alone and is free to every one without human merit or attainment. It is by grace through faith. Ephesians 2:8-9.

Don't see a word about pre-destination.

Available to everyone-yes. Pre-determined for everyone-no. If you attend my former church, you can ask the head pastor. He ardently believes in pre-destination, and it is still taught. My children have to attend there twice a month, so I am aware of the current teachings. The point of the article, though, wasn't who does and does not believe in predestination. It was to help LDS members to understand the doctrine of predestination that some (not all) reformed evangelicals hold. Many members of the LDS church have a love for members of all faiths and enjoy information that helps them understand their beliefs. I'd be happy to give you some information on our faith to help you understand us as well.
